Serving Edmonton and area since 2011, Albatross Roofing provides flat roof commercial services, including SBS conversion from tar and gravel, torching new SBS membranes, EPDM rubber roof membranes and TPO roof membranes.
For founder Dallas Millett, roofing is in his blood.
“I come from a family of roofers,” Millett shares. “I have been roofing since I was a teenager. I moved from Eastern Canada to work on the drilling rigs, but I would always go back to roofing when I had no work on the rigs. Over time, I got tired of the back and forth and never knowing when or if there was work coming along, so I decided to go into roofing full-time.”
That was the start of Albatross Roofing. At first it was just Millett and his father, who came down from Nova Scotia to help his son launch the company. They started off by driving around and dropping off cards on doors of houses that had roofs needing work, and they continued doing that for a few months. Things started taking off and now, 14 years on, Albatross is known to have a team of up to 40 during peak season.
As the company grew and evolved, so did its scope of work. Milestones included hitting the 10 year anniversary and completing the largest project to date, which involved a 100,000 square foot flat reroof.
“That went brilliantly and has given us much more access to larger projects,” smiles Millett.
“It was only in August of 2025 that we made the decision to focus on only commercial flat roofing,” Millett continues. “It takes time and experience to build trust into the commercial side of things. We evolved by being an honest, reputable, company with family owned-and-operated values.”
In addition to providing outstanding, warranty-backed service, Millett and his team strive to educate their clients. Albatross has many experienced tradesmen employed and Red Seal ticketed roofers. You can rest assured that your roof is being installed the proper way.
“It is very important not to go with the cheapest quote. Factor in experience, the quality of the products and upfront and honest pricing,” Millett shares.
The reason for this caution is, Albatross Roofing has discreetly fixed many roofs where the “cheapest quote” turned out to cause additional problems instead of solutions – which ends up costing property owners more over time.
“Additionally,” he continues, “we encourage property managers to do their annual inspections and preventative maintenance. You are dealing with a capital asset – if you don’t do your due diligence, especially on a flat roof, debris will pile up around the drainage and plumbing areas. This makes water stand on your roof and cause preventable, premature deterioration. At some point, overflow will stress the roof to the point where water gets below the vapour barrier and into the walls. This has the potential for mold and serious damage.”
Millett’s most rewarding aspect of the job is showing clients how a well-constructed and maintained roof can be achieved, and delivering outstanding service and safety while doing so.
When not doing that, Albatross Roofing can be found being very active in the community, supporting the Oil Kings Adopt-A-School program and also supporting the Devon Xtreme hockey academy’s events and tournaments.
Millett closes with gratitude to his team, clients and community.
“Thank you to Amanda for your unwavering support and dedication in the office, ensuring all our employees are well looked after, and to my estimator Brayden, who has been by my side for many years helping to shape the success of this business. Also, a special thanks to Joann, our health and safety supervisor, who has done a great job at keeping our men as safe as possible during the past nine, going onto 10 years. They all make my life easier and it would be hard to run this company without them. A heartfelt thank you to our core group of workers, whose hard work and commitment are the backbone of everything we do, and to our clients who trust us and make it all possible.
“Looking ahead, the future of the business is bright. Over the next five years, we’re focused on continued growth, with exciting plans already in motion for next year. We’re even exploring the possibility of expanding into Calgary, opening new doors and opportunities. The best is yet to come!”
