As we face a world that is rapidly evolving, one thing is clear: the future of business depends on the young minds we empower today. At Junior Achievement Northern Alberta, our mission is to inspire and prepare youth to succeed in the global economy. With an enduring foundation in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship, we’re equipping the next generation with the skills they need to thrive. However, we can’t do this alone. I was excited when Doug Griffiths, President and CEO of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, announced our new collaboration at their annual State of the Province Address with Premier Smith in October. With the Chamber representing over 2,000 diverse business members and gathering leaders for impactful conversations on our economy, they are vital to amplifying our impact and shaping a vibrant entrepreneurial future.
Junior Achievement programs are designed to be practical and hands on, connecting youth with local business leaders who are committed to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. The Chamber’s membership, spanning a multitude of industries, offers our students a glimpse into real-world business challenges, successes, and importantly, the value of community networks. The experience of collaborating with seasoned entrepreneurs not only instills confidence in young people but also provides them with essential mentorship and networking opportunities that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
This partnership with the Chamber allows us to connect Edmonton’s emerging entrepreneurs with established leaders who have shaped the economic landscape of our city. These businesses bring insight and expertise, demonstrating how entrepreneurial vision can be transformed into impactful ventures. By working together, Junior Achievement and the Chamber are creating a bridge from classroom learning to business realities, where students can explore career paths and develop skills that align with the dynamic needs of today’s economy.
Chamber members will have the first opportunity to receive exclusive news on Northern Alberta Business Hall of Fame inductees. We will also be creating a special Chamber World of Choices career fair event and participation opportunities in our JA Company Program Big Pitch. Our Junior Achievement Company Program graduates will receive a one-year complimentary membership to the Chamber, access to mentors in relative sectors and World Trade Centre global connectivity. Together we’re not just teaching business, we’re cultivating a mindset that will drive Edmonton’s future economy. We’re grateful to the Chamber and its members for their invaluable support and commitment to this journey, and we look forward to the many ways we’ll continue to shape the next generation of entrepreneurs, together. This is not only a sound investment in Edmonton’s future prosperity but also a way to build a more resilient, entrepreneurial ecosystem. We are fortunate to have partners who recognize that supporting youth entrepreneurship is not just good for the students – it’s good for business and for Edmonton’s future.
The power of partnership goes beyond what any single organization can achieve. By combining our resources, knowledge and networks, we’re amplifying the positive outcomes for Edmonton’s youth and business community alike. We’re eager to expand on these relationships, actively seeking more conversations with organizations and leaders who share our vision of fostering the next generation of business innovators.
Please reach out if you have an idea on how we can work together. When we come together to invest in our youth, we’re making a profound commitment to Edmonton’s future – building a city that thrives through the ingenuity and success of its entrepreneurs.
