PCL Construction is honoured to be recognized as one of Alberta’s Top Employers for 2026. This list is curated by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. It is the 15th year PCL has earned a spot on this particular list.
PCL Construction credits its success to its people who, in turn, continue to build not just successful projects, but an incredible culture. The company is committed to career development, learning and development, community giving and being 100 per cent employee owned.
PCL continues to expand its global reach and now has more than 30 offices in major cities around the world. At the same time, the company is proud of its Western Canadian roots and deep connection to Edmonton, where it has been headquartered since 1932.
With its learning-focused culture, PCL gives its employees opportunities to improve their skill sets and set themselves up to thrive in both their current and future roles. The company encourages both formal and informal mentorship and it offers extensive behavioral, technical and leadership courses through its in-house College of Construction.
PCL also knows that building community extends beyond physical structures — it’s also about connection and giving back. In 2025, PCL and its employees in the Edmonton area raised more than $2.6 million for United Way Alberta Capital Region. The Calgary office added nearly another $390,000 for United Way Calgary and Area, bringing their total in the province to more than $3 million.
“As an organization, we’re committed to teamwork, collaboration and showing up for one another,” says Harmony Carter, PCL’s vice president, people and culture. “Our employees can see every day how their individual contributions lead to bigger success, whether that’s on a job site or in a fundraising campaign. They’re proud to share in that success.”
The Canada’s Top 100 Employers project is a national competition to determine the employers with the best workplaces. It recognizes industry-leading employers who offer exceptional workplaces for their employees. Employers are evaluated using eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; professional development programs and community involvement.
