For more than four decades in Northern Alberta, Junior Achievement (JA) has been dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a rapidly evolving global economy. Through hands-on programs in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness, JA equips students with the confidence, skills and mindset to build meaningful futures for themselves and their communities.
At the heart of this mission is the Northern Alberta Business Hall of Fame – JA’s signature event and highest honour. Each year, it celebrates exceptional leaders whose vision, leadership and commitment have not only shaped Alberta’s business landscape, but have also strengthened the communities we call home.
More than a celebration of success, the Hall of Fame is a powerful reminder of what’s possible. It connects generations, shining a light on the journeys behind the achievements and inspiring young people to see themselves as the next wave of leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers.
At a time when the future of work and leadership is being redefined, this year’s inductees exemplify the very best of our region’s business community – leaders whose careers are defined not only by achievement, but by integrity, resilience and a deep commitment to giving back. Their stories, shared in the pages that follow, offer a glimpse into the values that have shaped their success, and a blueprint for those who will follow.

Diane Brickner
Retired President & CEO, Peace Hills Insurance
Some leaders build companies. Others redefine what leadership can be. Diane Brickner did both quietly, steadily and with conviction that business could be both successful and deeply human.
When Peace Hills Insurance launched in 1982, it was a bold and unconventional idea: an Indigenous-owned insurer entering a highly competitive national market. Where others saw uncertainty, Diane saw possibility. As a founding leader, and later the first female president of an insurance company in Canada, she helped shape not only the trajectory of the organization, but the expectations of an entire industry.
For more than three decades, she guided Peace Hills from a three-person startup into a nationally respected insurer serving communities across Western Canada and the North. The company’s growth was significant, but what distinguished Diane’s leadership was the way it was achieved – through consistency, trust and a long-term perspective that prioritized relationships over short-term gain. In an industry often defined by transactions, she built a culture rooted in connection. In a business driven by risk, she led with integrity.
Her leadership was grounded in authenticity. She believed strong organizations are built by empowering people and creating environments where individuals feel valued, supported and accountable. That philosophy strengthened the company both internally and externally, earning lasting loyalty from clients, partners and communities.
Time and again, Diane was the first woman in the room; on corporate boards, in executive circles and at decision-making tables across the country. She didn’t simply take her seat. She expanded what was possible for those who would follow.
Diane is a trusted mentor to many. She has a natural ability to recognize potential – often before others see it – and took the time to support and encourage people to grow. For those who worked alongside her, her impact is reflected in the confidence she helped create.
Her leadership has earned widespread recognition, including Alberta Venture’s Business Person of the Year, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the Canadian Senate’s 150th Anniversary Medal. Yet her greatest pride lies in the people she has mentored and the leaders she has helped shape.
Today, her legacy lives on through the strength of the organization she helped build and through the countless individuals who carry forward her values.
To Junior Achievers, her message reflects a lifetime of values-based leadership: “Success is built on relationships. Work hard, treat people well and never stop learning.”\

Marc de La Bruyère
Managing Director, Maclab Development Group
For Marc de La Bruyère, real estate is not merely about buildings: it is about shaping communities and expanding opportunity.
Over more than 35 years, working alongside a trusted and long‑standing team, Marc has grown Maclab Development Group into a highly regarded real estate and investment firm recognized for its sophistication, creativity and impact. Under his leadership, Maclab built one of the most impressive land development ventures in Alberta and developed and managed millions of square feet of residential, commercial and mixed‑use space across North America. Each project reflects a clear commitment to thoughtful design and quality execution. In the past three years alone, Maclab has been honoured with the BOMA Edmonton Innovation Award, the BILD Edmonton Best Rental High‑Rise Award and the CoStar Multi‑Family Development of the Year Award.
Marc’s leadership extends well beyond real estate development. He is deeply committed to philanthropy rooted in opportunity and creative expression. As a leading supporter of the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta (YONA) and the Youth Orchestra of Saint Luke (YOSL), Marc has helped thousands of young people discover and nurture their talents. For many participants, these programs have been transformational: building confidence, broadening horizons and opening doors to educational and professional pathways.
He believes strongly in support for education and the arts. Through leadership roles and sustained engagement with institutions, including the Citadel Theatre, the Edmonton Public Library, the Edmonton Art Gallery and the Winspear Centre, as well as the University of Alberta and the Loran Scholars Foundation, Marc has helped strengthen organizations that enrich lives and communities.
Marc’s influence reaches beyond Alberta. In 2024, he was appointed Distinguished Visiting Architecture Fellow at Yale University, where he contributed to a wider dialogue on development, design and the social responsibilities of the built environment.
Ultimately, Marc’s legacy is defined not only by the communities he has helped create, but by the relationships he has built and the lives that have flourished through his leadership.
His advice to Junior Achievers reflects this philosophy: “Surround yourself with people of talent, integrity and drive—together you can truly move the world.”

Dr. David Tuccaro
President & CEO, Tuccaro Group of Companies
For Dr. David Tuccaro, success has never been the destination. It has always been a tool for opening doors, creating pathways and building a better future for others.
Growing up in Fort Chipewyan as a member of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, Dave understood both the challenges facing his community and the untapped potential within it. Rather than accept limitations, he set out to redefine them. He was driven by a belief that opportunity should be created, not waited on.
What began in the Northern Alberta oilsands region has grown into a diversified group of companies operating across Western Canada. Through determination, resilience and a clear sense of purpose, Dave built businesses that not only succeed commercially, but also create meaningful opportunities for Indigenous people.
His leadership has helped expand what Indigenous participation in Canada’s economy can look like. By founding the Northeastern Aboriginal Business Association, he brought together more than 100 companies, demonstrating the strength and potential of Indigenous entrepreneurship.
Beyond business, Dave has become a national voice for economic reconciliation and community development. Through his involvement with organizations such as Indspire, he has supported education initiatives that empower Indigenous youth across the country, reinforcing his belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for change.
His contributions have been widely recognized, including multiple honourary doctorates, Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, induction into the Aboriginal Business Hall of Fame and appointment to the Order of Canada. Yet, for Dave, these honours represent not an endpoint, but a responsibility to continue building pathways for others.
At the heart of his work is a commitment to community. Inspired by his mother and guided by a strong sense of purpose, Dave has remained focused on lifting others, ensuring that progress is shared and that success creates momentum for those who follow.
His journey is a powerful example of what can happen when vision is paired with action, and when success is defined not just by personal achievement, but by collective advancement.
To Junior Achievers, his message is both a challenge and an invitation: “Step forward. Be ready. Use every opportunity to build something better – not just for yourself, but for your community.”

Glenn Woolsey
Founder & CEO, York Realty Inc.
Long before he was shaping industrial landscapes, Glenn Woolsey was learning the fundamentals of entrepreneurship – one paper route at a time.
As a young entrepreneur, Glenn quickly discovered that success comes from initiative, discipline and a willingness to take ownership. By expanding and managing multiple delivery routes, he learned early that small opportunities, when approached with focus and effort, can grow into something much larger.
That mindset carried him into a career in real estate, where he recognized the potential to build something of his own. In 1985, alongside his wife Sandra, he founded York Realty Inc., a decision that would mark the beginning of a four-decade journey of growth and evolution. Today, the company holds nearly 11 million square feet of industrial real estate – one of the region’s most significant privately held portfolios.
Through changing markets and economic cycles, Glenn’s disciplined approach has proven that resilience is what sustains success. He has steadily expanded the business into a fully integrated operation, combining brokerage, development and construction. That growth reflects a long-term commitment to building value with consistency and purpose.
In an industry where reputation is everything, Glenn has built something less visible but equally powerful: trust. Known for his responsiveness, reliability and integrity, he has earned the confidence of clients, partners and colleagues over decades. That reputation has become one of his most enduring achievements.
His leadership style is grounded and pragmatic. He understands that challenges are inevitable, but believes that perspective determines outcome. His philosophy is, “There are no problems, only solutions.” This has guided both his decisions and his team, fostering a culture focused on accountability and results.
While proud of what he has built professionally, Glenn places equal importance on family and legacy. He has passed along his entrepreneurial spirit and values to the next generation, ensuring that the principles that shaped his journey continue forward.
To Junior Achievers, his advice is simple and hard-earned: “Always maintain your integrity because, if you ever lose it, it is very difficult to get integrity back.”
