Edmonton Co-op connection tour

Monday, November 3

Location: Matrix Hotel
Address: 10640 100 Ave NW
Time: 7:00 PM

This fall, the Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA) is on the road with the Co-op Connection Tour. A province-wide series of in-person Lunch & Learn gatherings, fuelled by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE), and regional sponsors, helping to bring these conversations to life.

At the heart of every stop is connection. Co-ops, credit unions, and community builders will come together to exchange insights, showcase innovation, and explore how the co-op model drives resilient, locally owned business solutions. Alongside that, we’ll explore how the co-op model can creatively address local needs in housing, elder care, food security, business succession, and more.

These aren’t lectures, they’re open conversations where local voices set the agenda, co-ops take the spotlight, and new ideas take root.

Deep Retrofit Discovery Session 5: Hi-Tech Seals

Thursday, November 27

Location: Hi-Tech Seals
Address: 9211 41 Avenue NW
Time: 8:00 A.M.

The Hi-Tech Seals warehouse in Edmonton has been on a journey to net-zero since 2006. It has been expanded, retrofitted and electrified, and now has no gas meter.

The warehouse over time:

•1996 – Original 13,000 sqft warehouse was built
• 2006 – A highly insulated 19,000 sqft warehouse expansion was added, and a ground source heat pump system was installed
• 2023 – The original roof was replaced, the remaining natural gas equipment was electrified, and a 248 kW solar system was installed.

This session will have two parts:

1. Warehouse tour: How does the technology work? We’ll have technical experts on site to show you each technology, describe how it works and answer your questions.

2. Info session: How much does it cost and what incentives are available? We’ll discuss the business case if similar upgrades were installed on a commercial warehouse in 2026 and discuss the tax incentives and financing opportunities available today.

Cost: Free
